Kingsley Annual Fund

Like most Independent Schools, tuition alone does not cover the full cost associated with a Kingsley education. At Kingsley, tuition makes up 85% of our operating budget leaving a gap that is filled, in part, thanks to the generosity of the Kingsley community. Annual giving truly is the cornerstone of Kingsley’s fundraising efforts. Unrestricted gifts to the Annual Fund impact every aspect of the Kingsley experience. They strengthen our academic program, provide faculty with professional development opportunities, and ensure our faculty has the resources necessary in the classroom to provide the most robust experience possible. Put quite simply, Annual Fund gifts enable Kingsley to advance and deliver on our promise to develop each student to his/her fullest potential.
Each year hundreds of members of the Kingsley community, including parents, faculty, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, and friends of the school, are invited to participate in the Annual Fund. This annual fundraising effort is launched in the fall and concludes with the school’s fiscal year on June 30th.
Broad-based participation in the Annual Fund is highly valued and emphasized by the Kingsley community. Each year we aspire to achieve 100% participation of parents, faculty, and staff in our effort. Strong participation is a testament to the strength of our community and our mission.

Supporting Kingsley

Like most independent schools, Kingsley’s programmatic costs exceed tuition revenue. Unlike many peer institutions, Kingsley has no endowment from which to draw. Our generous community helps bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of a Kingsley education.

What is the Annual Fund?

The Annual Fund is a critical source of immediately available flexible funds. It strengthens our academic and co-curricular programs; provides teaching tools and technologies; develops our skilled and devoted faculty; and funds financial aid. By giving to the Annual Fund, you are directly supporting every area of our students’ educational experience.

The Difference Between the Annual Fund and Nosh@Home

Both the Annual Fund and our financial aid fundraisers, like Nosh@Home, are important. Gifts to the Annual Fund support the daily operations of the school. Our financial aid fundraisers solely raise money for Kingsley’s financial aid program.

  • Q: How are Annual Fund gifts used?

    Since gifts to Kingsley’s Annual Fund are unrestricted in nature, they help cover expenses that comprise the School’s operating budget. Gifts to the Annual Fund support high-quality classroom materials, cutting-edge technology, and field trips to name a few. Because faculty compensation and professional development make up the largest percentage of our operating expenses, the Annual Fund also plays a meaningful role in supporting our most important asset. Your gifts ensure that our students are taught by the highest quality teachers and that these teachers have the resources necessary to provide our students with the most enriching experience possible.

  • Q: Why should I give?

    Participation in the Annual Fund is a key value in our community. Together we are able to bridge the gap between what tuition covers and the costs associated with a Kingsley education. This enables Kingsley to be more accessible to a wider range of economic backgrounds. Your gift also sends a distinct message of your support of and belief in Kingsley’s mission.

  • Q: Who contributes?

    The Kingsley community is comprised of people with diverse relationships to our students. As such, donors to the Annual Fund are also quite diverse. We benefit from the support of current parents, alumni, alum parents, faculty, staff, grandparents and many other friends of the School. We are grateful for the vibrant community who enthusiastically supports our students!

  • Q: How much should I contribute and when?

    All gifts are important and meaningful and we hope that all members of our community think carefully about their gift to Kingsley. Gifts of all sizes collectively have a tremendous impact on our students and teachers. We encourage current parents to make Kingsley one of the top philanthropic priorities. Because gifts to the Annual Fund are used in the year they are made, the earlier you make your pledge or gift, the sooner it can be put to use. You can pledge anytime during the calendar year, however, all pledges to the Annual Fund are due by June 30th.

  • Q: What are the different levels of giving?

    Gifts at all levels are important to our community - often times leadership gifts are inspired by broad-based participation. At Kingsley, leadership gifts begin at the $1,500 level and go up through the $25,000+ level. The respective giving circles include:

    Red and White Circle ($1,500 - $2,499)
    Head of School Circle ($2,500 - $4,999)
    Montessori Learning Circle ($5,000 - $9,999)
    Kingsley Circle ($10,000 - $24,999)
    Founder Circle ($25,000+)
     

  • Q: Is my gift tax deductible?

    Yes! Gifts to Kingsley’s Annual Fund are fully tax-deductible. You will receive a tax receipt and acknowledgment for every gift you make to the Annual Fund.

  • Q: What is the difference between the Annual Fund and Financial Aid Fundraising events? Is one more important?

    Both the Annual Fund and our financial aid fundraisers are important. Gifts to the Annual Fund support the daily operations of the school, and can also be used to support financial aid. Our financial aid fundraising events, which can be in the form of an auction or other similar event, are solely to raise money for financial aid. All proceeds from our financial aid fundraising events are directed solely to our financial aid fund which provides aid to current and prospective families in kindergarten and up.

The Annual Fund is the cornerstone of all giving to Kingsley and supports 7% of the annual operating budget. It allows us to attract and retain talented faculty; provide exceptional academic, arts and Auxiliary programs; and offer meaningful financial aid opportunities.
